ALDI DX ALM Internal Tool
An internal web platform built from scratch at ALDI Süd International Services to support release and test management teams. The tool consolidated fragmented workflows into a single, reliable system for test preparation, distribution, and tracking across multiple countries.
Problem / Context
Release and test management relied on OpenText ALM, supplemented by a legacy in-house tool (CTM), Excel files, and scheduled SQL jobs. Workflows were scattered, data consistency was fragile, and teams had to manually correct sync issues. Maintaining the setup created ongoing operational overhead and slowed coordination across regions.
Solution / Impact
I designed and built a modern internal web tool that unified all test preparation and coordination workflows in one place. A proxy-based architecture was introduced between the tool and internal systems, replacing scheduled SQL syncs with predictable, real-time interactions.
- A single trusted interface for test managers across multiple countries
- Full replacement of the legacy CTM system
- Elimination of Excel-based and script-driven workflows
- Reduced downtime complaints and deployment overhead
- More predictable data flows and faster release coordination
My Role and Responsibilities
- Independently designed and built the system end to end, from concept to production rollout
- Worked directly with test managers to understand daily pain points and shape product and UX decisions
- Defined the system architecture, including a proxy server to stabilize and simplify integrations with ALM
- Built the frontend with a clean component structure and predictable state flows
- Implemented a backend API layer that abstracted internal system complexity
- Contributed to Scrum planning and reviews to align development with QA workflows
- Focused on maintainability through clean code, testing, documentation, and architectural diagrams
- Supported adoption across regions by evolving the tool without breaking existing workflows
